the regulation of gene expression and in cellular, developmental, and disease-related events. In our lab, we uncovered a new species of lncRNA- i.e., 3’UTR sequences expressed in the absence of similar levels of their cognate coding sequence (CDS), which we refer to as “isolated 3’UTRs” (i3UTR). We find both considerable expression of i3’UTRs with low cognate CDS, and also high CDS expression with low cognate 3’UTR-in developmentally significant patterns across a panel of cells and tissues, and for all genes examined- by two-color in situ hybridization (ISH) (red probe 3’UTR; green probe cognate CDS). Here we provide evidence that members of the stem cell regulator and marker genes Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, Myc and Nanog, collectively known as OSKM+ show dramatic
